Steve Yerkes
Steve grew up on farms in Iowa and was active in school bands and on the wrestling team. He became a high school band director and then sold musical instruments in the Chicago area. A California businessman since 1979, Steve has also been an active leader in community groups. He is the father of 3 children and several grandchildren, and now lives quietly in the mountains 90 miles outside Los Angeles together with his wife Yoshiko.
Steve's interest in massage was kindled during long periods as a care-giver through Yoshiko's bouts with cancer. He discovered that proper touch has enormous power to uplift the spirit and to heal the body. Hence, he attained certification in massage from the famed Institute of Psycho-Structural Balancing in order to help others who deal with pain or stress. Steve is additionally certified by The Heart Touch Program to provide pro bono services in hospices and pediatric hospitals. He believes that to learn and to love are primary ingredients in a well-lived life, and he experiences these life essentials in the study and practice of massage therapy.
